Which are the best high schools in Kiambu?
Over recent years, Kenya has strived to implement strategies to provide the best education as it is one of the ways to improve people’s livelihood. The provision of free primary education has increased the number of students joining secondary schools. In view of that, secondary schools’ tally in the country has also increased, with each county having at least a national school.
Kiambu county is one of the highlighted counties having some of the best high schools in the country. Some of the top national schools located in Kiambu include Alliance Boys and Girls High schools, Mang’u Kiambu High schools.

1. Alliance Boys High School
Alliance boys is a public national boys’ boarding secondary school located in Kikuyu, Kiambu County. It is the first school to offer secondary education in Kenya. it is so far among the best high schools in Kenya exhibiting excellent performance in national examinations.
2. Alliance Girls High School
It’s a public national boarding school located near Kikuyu in the Kiambu district. It’s is located just 20 km away from Nairobi, founded in the year 1948 as African Girls High School but was later changed to Alliance. In 2020 KCSE the school had a mean score of 9.50 and emerged among the best in the country.
3. Mangu High School
It’s a roman Catholic National High School that was established in 1925 located along Nairobi-Thika Highway. It is regarded as one of the best because it has produced many of Kenya’s governmental officials. Last year, they had a mean grade of 9.00.

4. Limuru Girls High school
It is located in the Limuru constituency of Kiambu county. It was founded by Arnold Buttler in 1922. Since its establishment, a lot has changed in its structure and governance as well as performance. It is known to be performing excellently when it comes to national exams. In the recent exams in 2020, they had a mean grade of 8.50.
5. Kiambu high School
It’s a public extra county boys boarding school located in the Kiambuni Sub location, Kiambu County. It was founded in the year 1971. In the previous KCSE, the school had a mean score of 8.50 and it transitioned all of its students to University.
6. Precious Blood Kagwe High School
Precious Girls High school is a girls’ secondary school located in Gatamaiyu near Kiambu town. It has been ranked as one of the best schools in Kiambu county because it had a mean score of 8.50 in 202 KCSE. It has been able to produce resourceful people in society like ministers and activists. It was founded in 1966.

7. Chania Girls High School
It is located in the central part of Kenya, Kiambu near the Biashara sub-location. They have been showing a consistent performance for past years and they recently scored a mean score of 7.78. This was the best of its performance ever since the school was founded in 1950.
8. Itura High School
It is a boys’ school located in Ngenda location in Kiambu county. The school has been showing exemplary performance in recent years. Having scored a mean score of 7.78, they did attract many students to join the institution. It was founded by the Holy Ghost fathers in 1962.
9. Karinga Girls High School
It was founded in 1950 as a mixed school and in 1968 it was converted to a girl’s school. The school is located in Ndaragu location, Karinga Sub location, Gatundu South sub-county. In the recent national exam, they had a mean score of 7.50.

10. Muhoho High School
It’s a boy school located in Kiganjo near Gatundu town, Gatundu south constituency, named after the son of Jomo Kenyatta Muhoho Kenyatta. Due to their hard work, they had a mean score of 7.25 in the 2020 KCSE. It was founded under Catholic Mission Gatitu in 1964.
11. Kambui Girls High School
It was recognized as the most improved secondary school in the recent national exams. The school had a mean score of 6.89 and was listed among the best schools in Kiambu. It was founded in 1903 by Scottish missionaries.
