2. Machakos Boys High School

Machakos Boys High School is situated along Machakos-Kitui Road in Mumbuni’s Machakos Town constituency. Under the name Government African School, the institution opened its doors to boys in 1915 as a primary school. The Primary School started serving both boys and girls in 1946. The school was divided in 1950, and all the girls were transferred to Machakos School.

Machakos Girls’ history is intertwined with that of Machakos School since everything began here. 6. Kabaa High School

Kabaa High School is a boarding secondary school for males in Mbiuni, Machakos County. In 1924 Dutch priest Fr. Michael Witte of the Holy Ghost Fathers founded the institution.

The boys’ school had 35 students when it first opened, but in 1939 it was transformed into a teachers’ training college, a primary boarding school, and an intermediate school. Kabaa was founded as a secondary school in 1960 and became an intellectual powerhouse for 20 years until the government seized it from the Catholic Church and caused its decline.
