Ciru Muriuki is among the few women in society who have mastered the art of venturing into different fields and perfecting those fields.
The veteran journalist has worked for giant media houses in and out of Kenya with her last assignment being with BBC where she left in 2023. Other than gaining fame as a TV and Radio girl, Ciru has established herself as a strong women’s rights defender and she was at the forefront of the “Stop Killing Women” protest that was influenced by the rise of femicide cases in the country.
Other than having a successful career, she has also had the worst days in her life including the loss of her fiance Charles Ouda, and her father who died of COVID-19 in 2020.

Educational Background
The multi-talented journalist secured her communication degree from Daystar University. Initially, she attended a medical school taking medicine courses for three years before dropping out and following her passion which was journalism.
Career
Her career in the media world began in 2008 when she was allowed to be on air by Homeboyz radio. During her stint at radio, she managed to establish her name in the media industry earning a TV role in one of the biggest media houses in Kenya, Nation Media’s flagship TV NTV hosting the Trend.
She worked for NTV for some time then moved to K24 where she worked for 8 months hosting the famous Alfajiri show. In 2018, she landed a big role with an international media house, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
She served in that capacity for five years before losing her job in 2023. In a statement she shared on her social media accounts, Ciru cited that she was retrenched from her position as the media house was taking a different approach in the digital world and some roles including hers were stripped off. According to her, she’s currently an under-employed journalist.

However, in September 2023 Ciru Muriuki did a life update after she announced her engagement to the now-late Makutano Junction star Charles Ouda. Fiancee’s Death
On the 3rd of February 2024, darkness fell on her side as she lost her lovely fiancee Charles Ouda. The news of his death was confirmed by a family friend via an Instagram post. The cause of his death is still unclear at the moment as his last moments were spent at a party with a crew of one of the films he was working on.
His death came six months after their engagement and the two have been living together where they have been entertaining their audience with a couple of goals content. Ouda was featured in famous films like Salem, Makutano Junction, and many more.
