Didmus Barasa first worked as a captain for the Technical Wing at the Kenya Armed Forces.

In 2017, Didmus decided to cast his stake into the national politics. He vied for the Kimilili Constituency Member of Parliament and won. He was subsequently absorbed into the national assembly the same year.
He was recently aligned to Tangatanga, a political denomination associated with the deputy president William Ruto but has since stopped associating with it. He was a die hard supporter of William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid but he recently announced halting Tangatanga politics to concentrate on personal affairs.

Didmus Barasa Controversy
Following assault charges in August 2021, he was arraigned at Kimilili Law Court on Monday 2nd August 2021. He was accused of attacking and causing bodily harm to Stephen Masinde, a contractor and musician from Bungoma County.
According to a report seen by this publication, Barasa had contracted Stephen Masinde to construct five classrooms at Lurare Baptist Primary School. Upon completion of the work, Barasa had refused to pay the contractor which prompted him to lock the classrooms.
When the MP arrived at the opening function, he approached the newly constructed classrooms in a bid to launch them officially. It is then that he discovered that the classrooms were locked.
An infuriated Barasa could not hold his temper, he charged at Masinde, smacked him hard and left him sprawling on the floor. The entire incident was recorded on camera by several journalists who later channeled the videos to media houses. The clip later got its way into social media and soon everyone was talking about it.
Despite the clear evidence of him assaulting the musician, Barasa denied the allegations and was released on a Ksh 150,000 bond and a Ksh 100,000 cash bail. His lawyer, Brian Khaemba represented him in court and ironically called for justice to be served to his client.
