Did you know you can pay for your post office box through M-pesa? Well, the Postal Corporation of Kenya has also embraced the go-cashless initiative. To facilitate the go-cashless campaign, the Postal Corporation of Kenya launched a Pay bill number that can be used in mobile money transactions.
Postal services in Kenya are considered as old fashion by many and most people have embraced the modern way of mailing that is electronic emails and others. However, most companies and institutions still use postal services, in their day-to-day activities.

So, as much people use electronic media the physical mailbox is still significant. The best thing about the Post Office box is that you only pay once a year and you can receive as many mails as you want.
Some years back, these services were paid via bank which was a bit hectic since you had to queue for some minutes to pay. At the moment, things are a bit different and better since you can easily pay for your box from every corner of the country as long as you have an access to an M-pesa account.

How to Pay Post Office Box Through M-pesa
- On your phone open the Safaricom M-Pesa menu
- Go ahead and select the “Lipa na Mpesa” option
- Then Select the “Paybill” option
- Under “Business number” enter “506500”
- Under “Account Number” enter your valid P.O Box number, followed by postal code but should be separated with a dash (-)
- Enter the amount you wish to pay and proceed
- Enter your 4-digit M-pesa pin and press continue.
- Confirm the details and wait for a confirmation message from M-pesa.
Box Renewal Charges
When it comes to private box renewal, the charges are different depending on your box. Below are the charges for different boxes.
- Corporation Box: this entails the organization and business category and it goes for 9,450 Ksh annually.
- Individual box: this entails, personal letters and it goes for 2,000 Ksh annually
- Special Corporate: This one is specifically for special groups such as children’s homes and charges are 6,225Ksh annually.
- Learning and Religious Organization: This carries the Schools, Churches, and Mosques, the annual payments are 7,775 Ksh.
