How to Update Safaricom sim card online. The communications authority of Kenya, led by its director-general Ezra Chiloba has ordered fresh registration of sim cards by all network service providers or telecommunication companies.
Safaricom, Airtel, and Telcom are the most widespread telco companies in Kenya, with Safaricom taking the lead as the most populous.
Earlier, Safaricom had refused to take the direction of Airtel and Telcom who had provided an online portal where customers could log in and update their details.
However, a few days ago, Safaricom announced the opening of an online portal where subscribers can update their details comfortably from anywhere. This means the long queueing that was earlier witnessed at Safaricom customer care centers and agents across the country will no longer be the case.

The CA, in consultation with the Telco companies also pushed the re-registration deadline from 15th April to 15th October 2022, meaning Kenyans will have more time to complete the exercise.
Safaricom has since caught up to the competition with an online platform that allows customers to update their SIM information.
As you update your sim card, make sure your ID photos are as clear as possible to avoid system failure due to blurred pictures. Also, try updating the information from your phone because it is much easier and faster.
You do not need to take a selfie to complete the process, so don’t be concerned. A facial photograph will however be required, but that will happen later on after more directives from the authority.

- Navigate to Safaricom online portal via this link: https://safaricom.com/account/kyc-upload
- Feed-in your phone number.
- You will receive a password via SMS, key it in.
- Next, the front and back images of your ID are required, upload the images.
- Complete and hit the submit button.
