Nzoia Sugar F.C History
Nzoia Sugar FC is a professional football club based in Bungoma, Kenya, currently, the club participates in Kenya’s top tier, Kenya Premier League. The club was officially launched in 1982 by Nzoi Sugar Company, one of the leading sugar producers at that time.
At the time of its establishment, the club was branded as Nzoia United Football Club but they subsequently named it after its founders, Nzoia Sugar F.C. Despite being founded in 1982 the club rose to prominence in 2003 when it participated in the CAF Champions League.

The club is owned and managed by Nzoia Sugar, a well-known sugar-producing company in Kenya. The company was the actual founder of the club and it has struggled to see the club’s prosperity.
In 2019, the company’s sports department appointed Evan Kedenge to serve as the chairman of the club. At the time of his appointment, the club was headed to relegation.

Currently, the team is headed by Salim Babu, who received his appointment in January 2022 taking the docket from Shikanda who left the club in a controversial manner.
Before his appointment, the club was being headed by Peter Gin, a former team player, captain as well as technical staff. He held the position of interim manager. With the new sheriff on the team, they are hoping to deliver the KPL title next season.

The club has been doing well since its promotion to the top tier but they have not been lucky enough to carry the KPL title home. It’s one of the oldest teams that has not yet bagged a league title.
However, for the past three decades that they have been in existence, it has clinched one National League Super League cup in 2016. Being one of the biggest teams in the country it has also managed to enter the world rankings, where they have been ranked number 1173 as of June 22.

The Sugar boys occupy Sudi Stadium as their home ground, the stadium has a capacity of 5000. However, sometimes they host their guest at Mumias Sports Complex in Mumias which has a capacity of 10,000 spectators.
