John Kiarie Waweru is a Kenyan politician and the current Member of Parliament for Nairobi County’s Dagoretti South Constituency.
Since 2017, John Waweru has been a member of the Jubilee Party (JP). He later switched to the United Democratic Movement (UDA), which propelled him to victory in the 2022 general elections.
Prior to entering politics, he was a comedian best known for his work on the Redkyulass comedy show.

He is a married man and the fourth of eight children. John’s mother committed suicide when he was only a few months old, while his father remarried and John was cared for by his stepmother. When John was in first grade, his older brother, who had introduced him to drawing and acting, committed suicide.

John Waweru got his first job in 1996 as a teacher at Materi Girls Centre and in 2000, again as a teacher at the State House Girls High School. From 1994 to 2007, John Waweru joined the Nation Media Group as a Journalist/Columnist.
Between 2000 and 2007, he was employed at Redykulass Limited as a Director. In 2008, he worked for three years at Athi Water Services Board as a Director.
From 2003 until 2008, he was given a job at Youth Agenda as a Director. From 2008 to 2011, Ogilvy Africa gave him a job as an Art Director, and then between 2011 and 2017, he moved to Scanad Communications as a Consultant.
