The Kenyan Media Industry has been growing rapidly over the last few years. This has been attributed to digital migration where people have shifted from using analog electronic gadgets to digital ones like smart TVs and radios.
One of the most widely used mass communication gadgets is the Radio. This applies not only in Kenya but the whole world at large. It is believed that the Radio is the most affordable tool of communication all over the world, especially among the rural population.
According to research by United Nations, about 70% of the world’s population uses radio to access information as compared to other gadgets. It is estimated that there are approximately 44,000 radio stations in the globe that broadcast to more than 5 billion people across the world. This indeed implies that the radio is very useful communication equipment.
It is estimated that seven out of every ten Kenyans use the radio to access information.

Data from the Communications Authority in Kenya indicates that there are over 140 registered radio stations in the country and a load of others that are not officially registered with the authority.
The Authority is mandated by the government to oversee the registrations, setting up and operations of all Communication, Telecommunication, and broadcasting stations in Kenya whether TV, Radio, or any other broadcasting firms or media houses.
