Liverpool FC is an English Football Club based in the City of Liverpool in England. It is one of the top-performing football clubs that participate in the English Premier League, the top tier of English football.
In March 1892, an English businessman named John Houlding who owned Anfield Stadium founded Liverpool FC to play on the ground. In September the same year, the club played its first match, which was a friendly one against Rother ham Town, and thrashed them a 7-1 defeat.
